Mat Record

Your progress in real time.

Your instructor sees the skill on the mats and awards the badge — with their name, the date, and their own words attached.Over time, you build a permanent record of your progress that gives an in-depth look at your game on a session-to-session basis.

How it works

Your instructor awards it. You keep it.

The demo below showcases how it looks from the perspective of the instructor and the athlete.

  1. Your instructor sees it

During class or live rounds, they watch you demonstrate real progress.

  2. They input their analysis on RollRoom

They pick the student, pick the badge, and write a short note saying what they actually saw.

  3. Your progress recorded

The badge lands on your Mat Record with the instructor, gym, date and note permanently attached.

What you saw
You got into 50/50 off John’s counter, then held the second leg before you went hunting the finish. When he came back at your leg you stayed safe, and the moment his knee line opened you were attacking again. Heel hook finished it. You were defending and attacking in the same exchange, not one and then the other.

Sample data — this badge has not been awarded to anyone, the date on it is part of the sample, and tapping Award sends nothing. The class is real: it’s Wednesday’s 5:00 PM No-Gi Basics off Masterskya’s schedule.

Skill stripes

A stripe is opened by your instructor and moved a stage at a time — Introduced, Developing, Reliable, Proven — never by a session count. These are skill stages, not belt stripes; nothing here touches rank.

Badges land when your gym does.

Today this is a prototype — no badge on this page has been awarded to anyone.

Skill Acquisition

You’re on Mat Record — the record your instructor writes, which is the part that’s live in prototype above. Skill Acquisition is the other half: the same badge system pointed outward, so you could work directly with the instructor who teaches the thing you want to sharpen. It isn’t built. You can’t book or pay an instructor through RollRoom yet.
